Academic Programme Convener (Faculty of Commerce and Law)

The Position:

To manage the day-to-day delivery of lecturing of Commerce and Law qualifications.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum qualification:

Relevant Master’s degree in the field of Commerce and/or Law

Experience:

At least five years’ experience as a lecturer in the higher education industry
Either demonstrated management potential or management experience of at least two years

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities:

As the Academic Programme Convener, you will be primarily responsible for the following:
Accountability areas – operating / financial results accountable for:
Accountable for the operational delivery of lecturing related to Commerce and Law programmes (lecturer performance)
Accountable for the performance of the community of practice and alignment with development hub
Operational process outputs:
Qualification related subject matter expertise
The management of academic delivery, resource planning and the management of lecturers

Management:

Budgets
Input into academic budget
ICA claims processing
Operational planning e.g., programme implementation planning and training (per mode of delivery) incl. sequence, prerequisites, etc. (academic planner)
Monitoring, control, corrective action
Reporting – regular feedback as per program manager requirements and Head of Programmes
Escalations / Decisions / Problem solving
Resourcing and capacity management (people; equipment)

Leadership:

Assistance with talent acquisition, selection and onboarding
Individual performance management – role clarity and objectives; reviews; feedback; corrective actions
