Job Purpose
Support all aspects of proposal activities working with key technical experts to position for and win new business to increase project backlog for private sector and global development clients such as African Development Bank (AfDB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Word Bank and help power a just energy transition for all.
Job Descriptions
As a Business Development Associate working remotely in South Africa or our Pretoria office, you will have the chance to develop complex technical proposals, including: staffing and management approach, institutional capability, and relevant annexes related to candidate resumes, past performance; graphics/charts, monitoring and evaluation, workplan, and other proposal inputs as required for various clients, development banks, and other international funders.
You will also provide recruiting and candidate sourcing support on proposal opportunities, manage the candidate interview process, collect proposal input for submission, and lead candidate communication through contract award decision.
Working closely with other members of our team, you will write and produce high-quality proposals, marketing materials and other business development inputs. You will liaise and communicate with partners and subcontractors, including participating in teaming discussions, as well as reviewing and providing feedback on partner inputs and other technical submissions. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to work with other Tetra Tech business units on new business opportunities and on company-wide business development improvements and initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to travel on occasion, including to developing countries. If you’re up for the challenge, we’ve been looking for someone just like you.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
1-3 years of relevant work experience, including in international development, recruiting, and/or business development field for multilateral development banks and private clients.
Proven ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.
Precise attention to detail.
Diplomatic skills for negotiations with partners and internal discussions.
Proficiency in writing, grammar, and quality assurance.
Computer proficiency in using content management systems (e.g., Egnyte, OneDrive), Adobe PDF, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent communication, customer service, and collaboration skills.
Experience working in the energy sector within the context of international development.
Experience with graphic design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
Previous experience in recruiting for proposal activities.
Experience writing and editing resumes, proposals and/or reports for international development clients.
Fluency in a second language, preferably French, Arabic or Spanish.
