Job description
The Brand Managers will manage selected brands within the clients Private Brand portfolio, working on developing and executing the brands strategies; communication and marketing plans; working closely with client and supplier in launching new products (from reviewing categories trends; proposing and executing new product development ideas, to managing the packaging process).
Strategy Development:
Responsible for the development of brand strategies for the brands under area of responsibility
Use marketing research available (desktop or other) to analyse and identify weaknesses in the private brand’s relationship with its target consumers (low awareness, brand positioning, high trial barriers, trial-rejection problem
Develop brand improvement strategies and plan marketing activities designed to strengthen the brand’s image among its target consumers.
Marketing campaigns:
Develop and coordinate unique promotions that are consistent with the marketing strategy to achieve the brand objectives.
Develop plans to grow the brand and educate internal stakeholders
Packaging Execution:
Work closely with the Category Manager, design team and suppliers in briefing in and handing over artwork for new packaging, ensuring all new Private Brand products are launched timeously
Business Analysis; Reporting & budget setting:
Review and analyse brand performance i.e. brand sales and margin analysis
Work closely with both Business and the Buyers to analyse categories and identify opportunities for growth (sales and profit)
Will need to develop brand sales budgets annually, and track performance on a monthly basis (with corrective action when under-performing)
New product development:
Review trends and data to identify new product opportunities and work closely with the studio in managing the design and execution of packaging
Experience Required
University level qualification in a relevant area (Business Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Consumer Studies)
3-5 years’ experience with a retailer, manufacturer/supplier to a retailer, importer, advertising or research agency or consultancy
Previous experience working with Hi-tech products and appliances will be advantageous
Functional Knowledge and Business Expertise Required
Proficiency in some or all of: Brand Management, Packaging development, Marketing, Product Development, Sourcing and Supply, Category Management
