Consultant – (Onshore Renewables Project Team) (Associate Level)

We are seeking a candidate with a passion for driving positive impact in industrial decarbonization and the renewable energy sector in South Africa. The candidate should have technical knowledge and experience working on relevant projects in South Africa, and knowledge and experience of the South African renewables’ energy market and legislative permitting requirements. Any experience working on renewable projects that need to comply with international lender requirements (such as the IFC PS, EPs, etc.) will be an added benefit.

Responsibilities:
Your role will be primarily focused on project delivery whilst contributing to client relationship development and business development in line with our vision, values and our strategic imperatives. More specifically, as a Consultant, you will support the CPD team by:

Managing large, complex onshore renewable projects including (amongst others) ESIAs, Audits, and Due Diligences for a range of clients in both South Africa and other African countries.
Supporting business development for the renewables market in South Africa and Africa – creating relationships, identifying opportunities, submitting proposals and undertaking the projects.
Involvement in other environmental consulting activities as appropriate.
Proposal preparation, sales, business development and client management.
Supervising project team(s) and coaching and mentoring more junior staff.
Collaboration with CPD teams across the Africa BU in particular, but also to maintain collaboration within the EMEA region.
Understanding the interrelationships between ERM practices and policies and how these are applied within the business model(s).
Establishing strong working relationships with clients through project delivery.
Client development and relationship management of HGHV and key clients.

Travel within South Africa and other African countries will be required to fulfil some of the above duties.
Requirements
Requirements include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management. A higher degree is an advantage.
Minimum five to six years of experience in the environmental field (ESIAs, Audits, and Due Diligences).
Track record of successful delivery to clients within the renewables industry.
Track record in selling and delivering consulting services to senior client representatives.
South African Environmental Assessment Practitioner Registration.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
High proficiency with standard industry software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office suite).
Ability to communicate frequently with clients and co-workers and share information effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in both office based and remote environments.
Strong conceptual and analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative.
Flexibility and responsiveness in managing multiple projects simultaneously (sometimes under pressured conditions).
Self-motivation with an ability to work independently.
Proficiency at planning, directing, and coordinating the work activity of others.
Frequent travel by airplane or car as necessary to perform work at other locations.
