Purpose of Role

This is a specialist role within the Human Resources structure responsible for all the associated industrial/employee relations litigation practices and systems. It is responsible for the implementation, advising and updating of all the applicable industrial/employee relations practices within the Mine/Operation. 
The role needs to initiate appropriate intervention functions such as training, upgrading, trend analysis, and orientation to ensure legal compliance and effectiveness of the processes.  This will assist with optimising the performance of the organisation and enhance the well-being of employee relations within the operation.
The role has a specialist focus to lead the function towards industry best practices and to integrate the outputs of the function with the outputs of other functions in the organisation.  The time frame of work is 1 to 2 years, but some plans will be on a longer timeframe.

Role Context:

Expert services with regards to the industrial relations discipline, including litigation, systems, practices, and processes.
Provide expert advice to the organisation through the implementation of best practice systems related to the specific function.
Maintain good employee relations.
Develop and apply necessary administration systems and practices
Ensure that systems and procedures are compliant with legislation.
Ensure that systems and procedures are used to the fullest by stakeholders by regularly auditing usage and application.
Advise management on the most appropriate course of action when decision relates to function.
Provide advice and interpretation to any stakeholder in so far as the function utilisation and integration with other HR functions is concerned.
Provide regular information to all stakeholders regarding use and trends specific to the function.
Support projects for the implementation of applicable Safety, Regulations, The Act, Codes of practice and standards.
Ensure that the required systems and procedures are aligned to the Units uniqueness
Ensure that HR systems conform to Tharisa Minerals policies.
Ensure employee records are accurate.
Ensure that systems are well maintained.
Support the training of non-HR Managers in HR systems and procedures.
Ensure accuracy of HR systems.
Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers.
Ensure that HR systems used, and procedures are competitive, legal, integrated with other systems and understood by employees.
Ensure that the appropriate systems and controls are in place to manage resources.
Ensure the preservation of departmental records and statistics.
Identifying employees suitable for further training related to the role.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Relevant Human Resources /Personnel Management Degree or similar
Job specific experience:

At least five years Human Resources/Employee Relations experience, of which two years in the mining environment.
Experience in other organisations.
Competent in Human Resources and Employee Relations functional systems relevant to the role.
Computer literate.
Read and write in English. 
Valid driving license code 08.

Inherent requirements;
Must be medically fit.
