Job Description

Provide information to Supervisors, Co-workers and subordinates by telephone, written communication, email or in person.
Analyse test results, machine error messages and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment faults
Ensure the smooth functioning of measuring and control units and equipment within the plants
Conduct Scheduled checks and inspections of measuring and control units of the plant and equipment.
Detection and fault finding of malfunctions and the resolving thereof
Assist with solving control related problems relating to the plant in which they are assigned to work
Assist Engineers and Foreman in various tasks by planning and gathering data.
Perform maintenance duties in areas of the plant as instructed by the Department Foreman
Assist with minor projects and plant upgrades relevant to the plant and their trade
Use trade specific knowledge and experience in the application of instruments and control engineering principles to effect practical solutions
Work with tools and equipment to repair or service instrument and control units on plant machinery and equipment
Guide, coach and mentor Apprentices. Identify and report on their training needs, progress and skills development
Monitor the functioning of various plant and equipment and report findings
Order required spares and materials from the store
Comply with all safety regulations as per company rules and procedures as well as what is prescribed in OHS act

Qualifications ’ Experience

Completed recognised apprenticeship in the Instrument Trade
Experience in Chemical Manufacturing Plant, preferably Sulphuric acid.
Experience with Yokogawa DCS systems.
Experience with Endress and Hauser equipment.
Knowledge of CMMS systems
Computer literate.
Must be trained in and able to use emergency safety equipment i.e. breathing apparatus sets and air mask sets in difficult conditions.
