Role Purpose

The ME: VB ’ Digital Platforms reports to the Chief Officer: Strategy ’ Commercial within Vodacom Group. The role holder is accountable for defining and leading the Vodacom Group VB strategy across our Africa footprint, including across our 3 largest markets of South Africa, Safaricom and Egypt. The individual will proactively enable the Group to deliver its Enterprise system of advantage and drive commercial performance and revenues across the footprint by defining and driving the VB roadmaps across all markets.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Define the Group’s strategic priorities for Vodacom Business (VB) and Digital Platforms in support of our overall business strategy
End-to-end owner of the VB product strategy for Group-wide enterprise products (Fixed, IoT, Cloud ’ Security), ensuring successful delivery and lifecycle management of these across our markets through a well-defined Africa Product Operating Model
Lead and drive propositions strategy across different segments in line with Vodacom business and commercial priorities.
Define the VB Blueprint on how to organise the business, including trading, pricing etc.
Lead the development and implementation of product ’ proposition roadmaps for all regional B2B products, prioritising company investment decisions to ensure delivery of our Enterprise System of Advantage
Oversee regional programmes and support OpCo VB Directors with defining monitoring and achieving commercial targets
End-to-end VB owner of the Africa Product Operating Model, working in tandem with Group Technology to successfully deliver across the full footprint.
Advise local markets on the requirements for successful launch and management of regional VB products, including organisation, people, system, and commercial capabilities
Accountable for delivering tangible revenue, profit and NPS improvement across our markets through the execution of the VB and Digital Platforms strategy
Built and maintain collaborative relationships with Group colleagues as well local market/OpCo teams to ensure successful execution of the VB strategy across all our markets.
Leverage the specialised capability within the markets, specifically our largest markets, to scale best practice in VB across our footprint
Serve as the Vodacom group functional lead for VB across all the OpCo’s, including South Africa, Egypt and Safaricom
Maintain a clear view and understanding of VB activity in all our markets to proactively challenge, provide strategic direction and drive improvement
Drive the development of VB capability in Africa, including building a community of experts across our markets to build and share best practice
Accountable for leading all Vodafone VB programmes across the African footprint, serving as the Africa SPOC and interlock between the Vodacom teams and the Vodafone Group Business teams
Key interface and interlock for VB with Vodacom Group Technology and VB teams in the various markets, ensuring continuous alignment in roadmaps

Be an ambassador of the Spirit of Vodacom by role modelling the behaviours of 1) getting it done together, 2) earning customer loyalty, 3) creating the future, 4) experimenting and learning fast.
Ability to inspire and motivate the VB ’ Digital Platforms team, as well as build talent pipelines for future succession
Provide functional leadership and direction to the VB leadership teams across the footprint
Act as a role model, influencing at all levels, effectively sharing the vision to inspire teams
Openly demonstrates self-awareness and commitment to improvement of self and others

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

University Degree such as B.Com or similar is essential (preferably postgraduate)
MBA or similar management qualification advantageous
12+ years’ experience in a Commercial environment with a particular focus on enabling B2B sales and marketing
At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity

Core Competencies, Knowledge And Experience

Proven knowledge and experience in B2B sales and marketing in a multi-national organisation
Proven ability to define and lead teams to deliver on commercial strategies and objectives
Understanding of industry trends and market dynamics and ability to apply knowledge to identify and act on opportunities for growth
Able to develop and lead well informed strategies and lead implementation thereof
Commercial acumen with experience in senior commercial roles managing P’L
Advanced commercial skills, including brand, marketing, pricing, and product and proposition development
Ability to inspire and motivate teams, as well as build talent pipelines for future succession
Ability to build and maintain strong teams with the right expertise and qualities
