Purpose of Job
Execute or lead projects, including the development of process flowsheets, use and/or development of process models and simulations, and support in the troubleshooting of operating units.
Interface directly with Sasol OMEs to effectively scope, plan, execute and implement research projects/studies.
Lead, support and guide R’T project teams, providing technical direction to other engineers, scientists and research operations staff.
Interface with 3rd party technology suppliers, to be able to assess the suitability of various process technologies for use in Sasol.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Execution and delivery of own technical studies through application of fundamental understanding of process engineering principles.
Alignment with stakeholders on the scope and execution approach for R’T projects,
Ability to provide support to operating plants by hands-on problem solving, technical analysis and monitoring.
Formulation and execution (manage and do) of process engineering scope for R’T projects.
Identification of key technical risks in process design, and proposal of solutions to mitigate or eliminate these technology risks.
Development of R’T technology packages and key engineering deliverables within a technology area
Participation at key hold and review points on projects.
Assessment of the feasibility of 3rd party technologies for use in Sasol.
Adherence to R’T governance, standards and policies during execution of work.
Adherence to relevant engineering standards and quality requirements.
Adherence to risk management policies and practices.
Lead and guide R’T project teams, providing technical direction to other engineers, scientists and research operations staff.
Plan, organise and execute R’T projects in accordance to the relevant governance processes.
Manage the delivery of R’T Projects by integrating various project tracks (chemistry, engineering, piloting, analytical etc.) into a holistic project plan.
Manage multi layered interactions and network with licensors, vendors and SBU’s regularly.
Deliver on functional contributions within the Engineering Research team.
Ensure all critical documents are reviewed and signed off by sponsor/SME/SM as identified within the project charter.
Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, and to work with, or through others inside and/or outside (ECs/licensors/etc.) the organisation to achieve project goals.
Critical to this role are strong interpersonal and networking skills to influence and negotiate, having the necessary maturity, discipline and emotional intelligence.
Ability to operate successfully in a diverse (culture, roles, positions and levels, etc.) work environment.
Ability to interface directly with Sasol OMEs to effectively scope, plan, execute and implement projects / studies.
Good project co-ordination/leadership skills.
Fosters teamwork and collaboration.
