Regional Procurement Manager – Africa

The Regional Procurement Manager – Africa will lead the efforts for 3 Countries and 5 plants of material acquisition, managing inventory and execution of local MRO spend and implementing continued cost savings in the area of direct, indirect materials and freight. This role will also implement structure and process to leverage across all facilities within the region.
Key Performance Areas:

Safety: Assure the safety, protection, and efficient use of financial, physical, and human resources of the organization, as it relates to incoming raw materials and purchases.
Regional implementation and alignment on Global strategies
In conjunction with the category leaders, drive cost reductions through the identification of new suppliers / alternate materials, leveraging suppliers to drive down Total Cost of Ownership.
Develop, promote, and lead the qualification of new suppliers in a cross-functional team for your region.
Lead/execute local ’ region-wide and cross functional initiatives (RFQs, 2nd source qualifications, supplier relationship management programs, risk assessments etc.).
Negotiate/award contracts ’ select suppliers in line with global/regional strategies and supporting larger global negotiations.
Identify improvement areas ’ develop improvement plans/countermeasures.
Manage inventory to achieve stated targets and reductions while maintaining adequate supply and OTIF.
Within the context of QSTP (Quality, Service, Innovation and Price/Value) ensure Quality and Service are on the highest levels within the supplier base.
Financial: Provide input related to supply, materials, and logistics to establish and achieve the approved budget. Provide input to the annual capital expenditures budget.
Metrics: calculate ’ monitor costs during a purchase order period and achieve operating metrics ’ expense budget. Establish and monitor annual goals and objectives for the Purchasing function.
Operations: Support the operations and growth of the organization by developing vendor accountability systems and contingency plans that ensure quality, capability, and capacity.
Customer: Support a customer-focused culture for operations.
Customer Service: Contribute to company cross-functional teams to achieve the overall effectiveness of customer relationships.
Capacity: Create, establish and manage the capacity and capability of the vendors that provide raw materials to meet fluctuating customer demands and growth of the organization, minimizing business risk.
People: Foster a network of highly trained plant buyers capable of carrying out the Purchasing and Logistics goals and objectives in support of the annual and long-term growth plans of the organization.
Continuous Improvement: Create a culture of relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, including contributing to and supporting product development, new business development and the operations objectives as well as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing.
Auditing and Reconciliation: Resolve any issues with vendors, including accounts payable terms, price discrepancies, quality, and delivery.
Values: Model the Corporate Values and Principles, including instilling a high performance, people-driven culture, providing high expectation.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred, business experience, relevant industry experience, and proven ability to manage projects.
Experience in packaging industry is desired, but not a must-have.
10+ years of progressive, sourcing, and contracting experience, including extensive experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans.
10+ years working in a global/multinational corporate environment.
10+ years materials and inventory management.
Articulate, clear, persuasive, and passionate in the spoken and written word, being fluent in English.
Perform advanced mathematical calculations.
Analytical, rational, logical, fact-driven, and reality driven decision making.
Literate in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
Proven track record of negotiating, managerial and project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Relate and communicate regularly with peers/colleagues at pan-EMEAAA and global level.
Travel within the region and globally.
