Shift Controller – Assembly

Job Purpose:

To ensure departmental objectives are met as the head of a shift of an operational department and to meet customer requirements through efficient supply management. Develop and lead a team to ensure that the best results are always achieved.

Key Accountabilities:

Demonstrate thorough knowledge of operational requirements within the area of your responsibility.
Develop and implement a management system for your team within the organization and initiate appropriate interventions to secure compliance in terms of service delivery, quality, and innovation.
Oversee your team and ensure the implementation of the organization’s and customers’ goals and policies.
Ensure effective communication strategies with you team.
Compile and manage financial budgets for the relevant areas.
Implement and maintain an effective cost programme.
Ensure effective absentee control measure within the operational area.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and ensure the application of occupational health and safety standards throughout the operations area.
Ensure timeous an accurate reporting of KPI’s and ensure that the department remains within the required target.
Ensure effective implementation of succession planning.
Maintain effective cost centre control including forecast and budgeting.
Develop and maintain an excellent relationship with the customer and its representatives.
Develop and control applicable procedures, in line with Quality requirements.
Maintain and adhere to standard operation meeting agenda and frequencies.
Assist in interview and selection process for your department together with human resources.
Equip and avail yourself as a disciplinary chairperson, to be utilised as required by human resources.
Ensure accountability for all equipment and facilities located within your department.
Develop employees within your department to achieve peak productivity and reach their full potential.
Ensure employees assigned to your responsibility are effectively trained to perform their daily functions.
Manage and control discipline within your department.
Ensure effective manpower control within your department.
Control and manage the implementation of new projects within or affected by your department.
Maintain high levels of accuracy within your allocated department.
Ensure required administrative functions are adhered to.

Qualifications, Experience ’ Attributes:

Matric (English ’ Math’s) or six (6) years previous work experience
Valid code B driver’s license
Minimum of 5 years logistics experience in a supervisory capacity
Ability to work with people
Ability to decide and initiate action
Ability to present and communicate information
Ability to apply expertise and technology
Ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations
Ability to cope with pressure and setbacks
