REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12
National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Qualified Plumber/Millwright (Red Seal) will be an added advantage
B-degree in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage
Experience in water & sewer infrastructure maintenance, operations, and construction
Valid code 08 or 10 Driver’s license
Excellent Communication, Interpersonal skills
Computer Literacy (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Competent in interpretation, implementation, and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies

3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in Water & Sanitation within Local Government Authority

DUTIES
Management, control, and planning of all sanitation section activities by:

Issuing work orders
Organising subordinates to coordinate and control work, teams
Monitoring productivity
Planning and project management of the sanitation section
Procurement and stock control of all materials and equipment used, including vehicles
Guiding, advising, and assisting subordinates through communication and on-the-job training to ensure an effective workforce
Handling all complaints and attending meetings related to sanitation section
Responsible for all problems and deadlines relating to queries
Working with contractors to ensure that work is done effectively and to high standards
Responsible for all health and safety matters in the section and performing investigations
General administrative duties pertaining to the position
Responsible for discipline and management of grievances according to the prescribed disciplinary code and Council policies
Budget management for effective operations and maintenance of sanitation section
Performing any other related ad hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management from time to time
