Our client, a global leader in the engineering industry is looking for a VDI Stack Operations Specialist to join their dynamic team.
Contract position up to end of September 2026 with the possibility for renewal.
Location: Pretoria Rosslyn / Menlyn / Midrand and home office on a rotational basis.

Description

You will be part of a team responsible for the development and operation of the Digital Workspace that includes the product Virtual Device (VDI). The focus lies on worldwide delivery (Cloud ’ On Premises) of the virtual desktop, App and access infrastructure for internal and external partners.
This product, as part of the Digital Workspace, offers a complex platform which allows the scaling of high-performance virtual desktops and apps.
You will be involved in the maintenance and operation of a global Digital Workspace infrastructure for virtual devices.
Be a maintenance and operations focused team member for their cloud and on premises VDI platforms.
Make sure that the infrastructure for VDI platforms run smoothly.
Actively work on constantly improving operational excellence including automation and proactive monitoring approaches.
Collaborate with an international product team, external providers, vendors and end-users.
Work closely with stakeholders, development teams in constantly improving VDI platforms stability and availability.
Work with other IT teams on integration of new features and components.

Main function:

Be responsible for the operations and standardization of the enterprise VDI infrastructure, platform, and desktop components.
Be responsible for the verification, planning and actioning of maintenance tasks together with other infrastructure teams.
Continuously work on improving the operational stability.
Work on automation of platform operations, troubleshooting and maintenance topics.
Install, configure, maintain, and deploy virtual Apps and desktop images.
Installation, Configuration, and maintenance of RDSH servers, e.g., Windows Server, Windows Multisession.
Installation, Configuration, and maintenance of Published Application presentation layer (e.g., XenApp ’ Citrix Workspace).
Application and Server hardening (e.g., Ivanti).
Worked with Application Monitoring tools.

Minimum Requirements

Experience in operation of Windows Servers (higher then 2016).
Experience in Windows Client (Windows 10) OS troubleshooting and patch management.
Experience with Active Directory and GPO.
Experience with Scripting (PowerShell, Python etc.)
Experience Citrix Xen-Desktop (higher then 7.x) and Xen-App (higher then 7.x) full stack.
Experience Citrix Netscaler (higher then 12.x) and Storefront.
Experience Citrix XenServer (higher then 7.x).
Citrix Certified Professional – Networking (CCA-N, CCP-N CCE-N).
Experience Citrix on VMware Hypervisor Stack (higher VMWare ESXi 6.x).
Experience with multi-factor and authentication technologies.
Experience in network infrastructure design and implementation.
Experience in troubleshooting infrastructure, network, and integration issues.
Experience with ITL processes (Incident, Change and Problem management).
At least 3 years relevant experience.
