Role Overview:

  • The Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring an organization's adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and mitigating risks. This role involves analysing legal and regulatory frameworks, assistance in the compilation and maintenance of a compliance universe, the development of policies and procedures and providing guidance to the organization to minimize legal and compliance-related issues.

Job Description:

  • Research and implement relevant governance requirements across the region
  • Assist in the development, update and review of key governance documents in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across all Member firms in Africa, to formalise a compliance program. Assist with the mitigation of compliance related risks and the drafting of policies and risk management plans for relevant legislation (ensure compliance with all relevant legislation)
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Implement and manage Data Privacy compliance within Africa. (with specific focus on EU GDPR and POPI in SA)
  • Implement and manage AML compliance to relevant legislation for all Member firms within Africa.
  • Perform the secretariat function as required

Qualification

  • Legal Qualification or a Compliance Management Qualification
